Reply-toMunging

or, "Why doesn't the mailing list slap a "Reply-to: dunlug" header on every message?

Ah, the eternal question of reply-to munging. We had an extensive flamew^H^H^H^H^H^Hdiscussion on this a year or so back. Take a look at http://lists.ethernal.org/dunlug-0409/msg00024.html and the ensuing debate (which is actually very informative in places).

The very brief summary is that reply-to munging is considered by many to be a Bad Thing. More pertinently, it is considered by the administrator of this list to be a Bad Thing, so it's unlikely to be changed. But most modern mail clients can be configured to do the right thing. (I'm afraid I can't advise specifically on Thunderbird, which you seem to be using; Mutt does it by allowing you to specify any mailing lists you're subscribed to, and providing `reply-to-list' and `reply-to-author' commands which work equally well whether or not the list is munged.)
